Why Jorrel Hato is a ‘very good deal for Chelsea’ as Ajax star nears £37m move
TBR Football can exclusively confirm the latest developments around Jorrel Hato and Chelsea, including why it’s a “very good deal” for the Blues.
Chelsea have won the race for Jorrel Hato, one of the most exciting young defenders in world football, amid interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
TBR Football confirmed earlier this week that Arsenal and Liverpool were told by Hato’s representatives that a deal was finalised with Chelsea.
Now, TBR Football can confirm when Hato is scheduled to have his medical and how much Chelsea are set to pay for the Netherlands international.

Chelsea set to sign Jorrel Hato for less than Ajax’s initial valuation
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that the overall deal for Hato, including add-ons, is £37million, and his medical is scheduled for Wednesday.
As we revealed previously, Ajax have already set their sights on Hato’s replacement, with talks in full swing for former Manchester City talent Ko Itakura.
“Hato made his decision last week that Chelsea was the right place for him and once that happened, Chelsea accelerated the deal,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.
“Ajax are happy to be getting over €40million, although they had wanted more than €50million initially, so it’s a very good deal for Chelsea.”

When Jorrel Hato could make his Chelsea debut
Chelsea are yet to report back for pre-season due to their 2024/25 campaign only ending on 13 July, the day they won the Club World Cup final.
The Blues will report back for pre-season in the week commencing Monday 4 August, and their first friendly is set to take place on Friday 8 August.
Should Hato complete his move to Chelsea by this weekend, then it’s likely he’ll commence pre-season at his new club at the same time as his new teammates.
With that in mind, should everything go according to plan, there’s a good chance he’ll be in the Chelsea squad for the meeting against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday 8 August.
