Why Bukayo Saka could still break all-time Premier League assist record as new injury date emerges

Aside from the hamstring injury itself being a blow, Bukayo Saka would have especially been frustrated about the setback he suffered in December because he was having yet another terrific season for Arsenal.

ꦿAs a creator, it looked like Saka was hitting heights he had never reached before, considering the Englishman’s tally of 10 assists in the Premier League was already the second-highest he had accumulated over the course of his career.

Barring the 2022/2023 season when the Arsenal🃏 winger provided 11 assists, he has never hit double figures in the same metric as a Premier League player.

Bukayo Saka🥀 was especially tormenting teams with his pinpoint crosses from corners, with Nicolas Jover’s excellent set-piece coaching turning Arsenal into consistent goalscorers from such situations.

꧙Saka and Declan Rice had become the most feared duo in the English top-flight every time the Gunners were handed a corner.

But unfortunately for Arsenal, Saka’s initial injury date൲ was set at a period between end of March and April.

Bukayo Saka could still break Premier League assist record as April injury return scheduled

🃏However, the have now definitively claimed that Saka, alongside Gabriel Martinelli are expected to return from their respective injuries at the start of April, as the duo could be in contention to feature against Fulham.

꧟Whether Mikel Arteta will deem either to be fit enough to start from the get-go remains to be seen.

🧸But aside from playing football again and helping the North Londoners get their season back on track, another possibility that should excite Saka is that he could still break Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s joint-assist record of 20 in the Premier League.

𒊎The Ealing-born winger looks set to be available for nine games, which means he will need to provide another 11 assists to surpass both Henry and De Bruyne.

Saka is an elite player💫 and while the challenge of assisting 11 times in nine games is nigh-on impossible one, he has the vision and delivery to be able to hit such a mark.

With five out of the nine games he will be available in set to be played at the Emirates Stadium as well, Saka, described as “underrated” by Ian Wright✅ will be brimming with confidence and have a chance of making history.

Bukayo Saka will break assist record for Arsenal on one condition

🧸Saka made 16 league appearances for Arsenal before his untimely injury and registered 10 assists.

﷽At the time, the FA Cup winner was providing 1.6 assists per appearance for the Gunners.

ܫIf Saka is as creative as he was before his injury until the end of the season, he will end up on 24 league assists.

🦂By doing so, the Englishman would have broken both Henry and De Bruyne’s record.

But it is entirely possible that Saka, tipped to win the Ballon d’Or📖 might take time to return to his best as well as the fact that Mikel Arteta could decide to ease him into returning to starting games.

🌞With the revered wideman now expected to miss just four league games against West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Chelsea for Arsenal, the Emirates faithful can expect to see him on the pitch very soon.
