What sources within Liverpool are now saying about the January transfer window

The January transfer window is just around the corner, and one team who may well be considering their next moves is Liverpool.

The Reds are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League right 𒅌now, and the last thing a team in this position should do is rest on their laurels.

Indeed, with the right additions, Liverpool should be able to kick on and win t꧅h⭕e title, and they should have the money to bring in new players this winter.

Liverpool bid £111m for Moises Caicedo last summer, while they failed to sign Martin Zubimendi this year, so there sh꧃ould be some cash reserves a🍃t Anfield.

However, according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, sources at Liverpool are playing down the idea of siꦺgning anyone in January.

Liverpool not planning any signings in January

Jones💝 shared what he’s been told by his Liverpool sources about next month’s transfer w꧋indow.

The journalist says that the Reds aren’t planning any signings, but he did not a few players that thꦺe Reds have been tracking.

“Yeah, I mean, look, Liverpool sources, I’ll say, are playi♐ng down the idea that they sign anyone at the moment in January. So we’ll have to wait to see what actually happens. I did a transfer guide two weeks ago, and I said in that, you know, there’s various positions to look at here, centre-back, left-back, centre-mid, potentially even in attack.

But where is th🔥is going to come out in the wash? The players I said at the time that they were looking at were Rayan Cherki, Marmoush, Antonee Robinson, Milos Kerkez, Okan Kokcu and Murillo, like some of the players that they had been tracking. But the word is ဣright now that Liverpool don’t intend to go and do anything.”

January signings by Premier League champions

There may be a feeling of frustration that Liverpool aren’t looking to make any signings in January in such🌞 a strong position.

However, teams who have won the Premier League in recent🌼 years haven’t done much bu🌌siness in January.

Manchester City haven’t made a first-team signing in January in any of the last four years. Liverpool did sign Takumi Minamino in January 2020 b🎃efore they won the league, but he was hardly a key contributor.

The last time an e🍸ventual Premier League champion made a notable signing in January was Aymeric Laporte to Manchester City in 2018 – almost seven 🃏years ago now.

You don’t need January additio💎ns to win the league, and Liverpool may be doing the right thing here in keeping the squad stable and balanced rather than adding new bodies to a squad that is already performing so well.
