What Mikel Arteta said when Thierry Henry questioned his progress as Arsenal manager back in 2021
It now looks increasingly unlikely that Arsenal will end their wait for a Premier League title under Mikel Arteta this season.
Having been pipped to the Premier League crown by Manchester City over the past two years, Arsenal are now fallꦑing short in their pursuit of Li🔥verpool.
At the time of writing, Arteta’s side are 13 points behind the league leaders, a gap they almo𝐆st certainly won’t be able to overcome.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
1 | 28 | 20 | 7 | 1 | 66 | 26 | 40 | 67 | |
2 | 27 | 15 | 9 | 3 | 51 | 23 | 28 | 54 |
Even if Arsenal had a 20-goal striker available right now, Liverpool are showing no si♓gns of dropping points – all focus sh🤡ould now be on the Champions League.
Of course, that 🍎is a compe🥃tition that’s also going to be incredibly difficult to win without Arsenal’s star forwards, a troubling situation all round.
Thierry Henry has questioned Arsenal’s progress under Mikel Arteta
That being said, Arsenal have no plans to replace Arteta, a reassuring message give🅺n that the Spaniard isn’t at fault for the club’s injury crisis nor the lack of recruitment in January.
Although, it is now interesting to revisit Thierry Henry’s commen🐠ts from 2021 when he questioned the progress that Arsenal were making under Arteta.

The Gunners have come a long way since then, mounting two (and possibly three) serious title challenges, ♓albeit ones that have faile♈d.
Hen♔ry was speaking at a event jusꦑt under four years ago and claimed that he wasn’t sure if the club were going in the ‘right direction’ under his former teammate.
The Arsenal legend said: “I don’t know if things are going in the right direction. I watched t🌊he Brighton game. Did you watch it?
“I’ve seen us beating Norwich befoඣre, winning at Burnley, beating Tottenham at home – because we always beat🔯 Tottenham at home.
“And, instead, we ꦗsuffered. I was waiting to see the Brighton game, to see if we could have the ball and keep the ball, away fro🔯m home, retaining possession, against a dangerous Brighton side.
“When we used to lo🐼se, even after I left the team, it was always said that Arsenal don’t have a Plan B and that they passed too much for the sake of passing.
“But I didn🐬’t see that from Arsenal in the Brighton match. I saw Brighton do that.”
Mikel Arteta rebuffed Thierry Henry’s doubts
In response to those comments at a later press conference, Arteta respectfully ignored Henry♕’s words.
⛦The Arsenal boss was asked whether he had read Henry’s comments to which he replied: “I haven’t, I am just hearing them fr෴om you.”
Then pressed for a response on Henry’s words, Arteta replied: “It’s just another ൩opinion. You have to respect that.”
Of course, Arteta’s stance is now interesting today, given noise around the club’s failures ﷽and poor decision-making certainly hasn’t lessened.
Arsenal are reportedly set for a huge summer of spending, and perhaps that will be needed in order to keep Arteta invested in the club’s visio🎶n and ambition.
