What Gabriel Jesus thinks is going to happen at Arsenal this season as Mikel Arteta plans signing

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is in something of a precarious situation in north London right now, stuck behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order.

When Jesus decided to join Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 it felt like a significant moment for Mikel Arteta, the young manager was already demonstrating his strong pull.

Man City were clearly prepared to let the Brazilian go, but Arsenal have still managed to sign a player with his prime years ahead, one of the best pressing-forwards in world football.

Fast forward two years and Jesus is now a substitute – so how has that happened?

Put simply, Jesus hasn’t stayed fit, he’s suffered multiple injuries during his two years at the club which has often amplified his lack of scoring.

Everyone who has watched the Premier League over recent years knows that a fully-fit Jesus can dominate games against any side – but now he’s just sat on the sidelines snatching at chances.

That being said, The Sun have now shared a report detailing how Jesus feels about Arsenal signing a new ‘world class’ forward before August’s deadline.

According to the report, Arteta is still ‘open’ to signing another top quality forward this summer, someone to add to the firepower already at his disposal.

Arsenal are close to selling Eddie Nketiah to Nottingham Forest right now, explaining why the club may seek a replacement.

But according to the report mentioned, Jesus is still confident that he’ll regain his place back in the starting eleven in the coming months regardless.

Earlier in the summer it was reported that Arsenal were willing to sell Jesus, given he didn’t necessarily suit the direction the club were heading in.

However, those plans changed when Jesus returned for pre-season in remarkable condition – a player clearly determined to turn things around.

Of course, there will be plenty of chances to go around at Arsenal in what will once again be a busy season.

And although there’s every chance that Arsenal buy a superstar forward, perhaps Edu and Arteta will ultimately decide to keep a thinner squad.

There is a danger that Arsenal’s squad will become too bloated if new players come in, considering all of Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Vieira and Takehiro Tomiyasu weren’t in the squad last Saturday, one that will still be added to.
