What Arsenal insiders are saying about Max Dowman’s chances of playing under Mikel Arteta next season

TBR Football can reveal what Arsenal are currently planning for Max Dowman following his impressive pre-season with Mikel Arteta’s team.

Mikel Arteta called up Dowman to train with the first team during pre-season, and the teenager is proving why he is one of Europe’s most exciting talents at his age.

Jurrien Timber is excited about Dowman, and he is certainly not the only Arsenal player who has been raving about his potential.

The excitement around the 15-year-old is starting to build, but the North London club are making their plans clear about his chances of first-team action next season.

Arsenal are unwilling to rush Max Dowman into the first team

Max Dowman is unlikely to get much first-team action next season at Arsenal, at this moment, with the Gunners unwilling to rush him, sources have told TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey.

The 15-year-old has looked so good when he’s featured during pre-season, with Declan Rice hailing Dowman after his Arsenal debut against AC Milan.

Dowman has also been impressing in training, but against Tottenham Hotspur, their bitter North London rivals, had two or even three players doubling up on him at times.

Whilst that shows his incredible ability, the Gunners will be conscious of exposing him to the physicality of senior football at such a young age.

The North London club also have plans of competing for titles in both the Premier League and Champions League next season, so putting that level of pressure on a 15-year-old is a lot.

At this stage, despite being on the fringes, Dowman remains some way off the first team, and his minutes at the Emirates Stadium are likely to be limited.

The same applies to Marli Salmon, who’s been dubbed the next William Saliba, who is due to turn 16 at the end of this month.

Hale End is starting to produce some serious talents, but the latest batch might have to wait their turn to follow in the footsteps of Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka.

Rio Ferdinand calls Max Dowman the best 15-year-old in the world

Rio Ferdinand believes that Dowman is currently the best 15-year-old footballer in the world following his impressive pre-season performances.

The former Man United defender reckons that Rice has taken the teenager under his wing and believes there is strong reason to already get excited about him.

Ferdinand told Rio Reacts: Max Dowman, don’t forget that name. Hale End and Arsenal have produced another young gem.

“He’s become one of the youngest Arsenal players to appear for the club in a pre-season friendly in Singapore against AC Milan.

“It’s early days, but it looks like Declan Rice has taken him under his wing. He’s definitely the best 15-year-old in the country, probably in Europe right now and maybe the world.”
