What Ange Postecoglou has just said about signing a new right-back amid Tottenham’s reported bid for Vanderson

Tottenham Hotspur will be the final team in action on this opening Premier League weekend as they travel to Leicester City on Monday night.

There will be some new faces potentially on display for Tottenham with Ange Postecoglou having seen five new faces signed this summer.

Not all of them will be available with Yang Min-hyeok arriving in January and there may be a lot of fans who don’t count Timo Werner as a ꦕnew signing.

But Spurs will be ready to go with the likes of Wilson Odobert and Dominic Solanke at their disposa𒈔l for the trip to the King Power.

There is ♚still two weeks for Johan Lange to wrap up any final pieces of business and Postecoglou has now shared his thoughts on adding to one specific position.

To♋ttenham are believed to be readying 🌜a £27m bid for Vanderson ahead of the deadline at the end of the month.

This comes after Tottenham have recently sold Emerson Royal to AC Mil෴an in a deal worth around £15m.

But Spurs sti༺ll have options at right-back and Postecoglou has now sh💙ared his thinking behind signing another before deadline day.

Speaking about how he now views Djed Spence‘s involvement, Postecoglou hinted he was expecting to need another right-back this summer🐼.

“Part of me is saying, OK, we need to keep evolving this squad. The guys go out on lo👍an for a reason,” Postecoglou told .

“Have they come back [and now] are they a better fit, are they part of what we’re 🅘doing? With Djed, I had an open mind. I certainly think the kind of characteristics he has would fit into our football. It’s then more about, OK, well he obviously didn’t fit last year, will he fit this year?

“He’s had a g♔ood pre-season. He’s trained really well. He seems to have fit into the group really well.”

Tottenham do not need to sign another right-back

Spence has seriously i𓆏mpressed Postecoglou in Tottenham’s pre-season friendlies and hꦕe🍰’s shown he’s more than capable of playing the backup role to Pedro Porro.

Spurs have no need to go and spend in th𒐪ꦜe region of £30m on another right-back.

Of course, having a squad brimming with quality is great but it is about managing the players once they’re through the door and would Vanderson be happy sitting on the bench regularly?

Given there📖 are only two weeks remaining in the window, there are far more pressing matters than finding a new right-back.

Another left-back who is capable of providing a similar product🍃 to what Destiny Udogie offers ♏would be far more beneficial for Spurs.
