West Ham hold talks with three-time league winning manager who was just sacked by European giants
TBR Football exclusively understands that West Ham United have held talks with former AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca as a potential replacement for Julen Lopetegui.

David Sullivan was convinced that Lopetegui was the right man to lead West Ham💛 forward after David Moyes’ departure in the summer, but he’s now admitted defeat.
Karren Brady is pushing for Graham Potter to become West Ham’s new manager, but after being let go by AC Milan shortly before the turn of the year, Fonseca is also in the frame.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey𓃲 understands that Sullivan has spoken to Fonseca about potentially replacing Lopetegui moving forward.
🃏Fonseca is held in very high regard at West Ham, a manager who was previously close to the Newcastle United job.

🐓The 51-year-old Portuguese manager has previously been in charge at the likes of FC Porto, SC Braga, Shakhtar Donetsk, LOSC Lille and AC Milan most recently.
✱Fonseca won three league titles with Shakhtar, and West Ham actually considered appointing him before handing the job to Lopetegui in the summer, explaining why the club are well aware of his credentials.
Graham Potter𝓡 remains the favourite to replace Lopetegui, and TBR understands that his Premier League experience is seen as an advantage in comparison to Fonseca.
🌜Many felt as if Fonseca was unfortunate to lose his job at Milan after just 24 games in charge, who has now been replaced by compatriot, Sergio Conceicao.
Paulo Fonseca says his teams ‘dominate’ their opposition
𓄧Speaking in an interview with in France back in 2023, Fonseca provided an interesting insight into how he likes his teams to approach games.
🔯When West Ham switched from Moyes to Lopetegui, fans in east London were hoping to see a more possession based style, one that matched their ambitions.
🤪And should he get the job, the way Fonseca tries to approach matches should be fairly popular at West Ham.
♑Describing his ideas, Fonseca said: “Basically, my teams play a game to dominate the opponent, to be installed in the opponent’s half, to create a lot of goal-scoring opportunities.
🃏“It has a lot to do with the domination of the game, with the form, the process that we develop to achieve this domination. It is decisive for me.”
