Victor Wanyama posts Celtic throwback on Instagram, after recent reports of return
Victor Wanyama has posted a video of his first ever goal for Celtic on Instagram – just months after the Montreal Impact powerhouse was being linked with a return to the Scottish champions.
Wanyama, 28, joined MLS side Montreal Impact – who are managed by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry -after plummeting down the pecking order at Tottenham. He managed just four outings before his Spurs exit this season.
The Kenyan midfielder has since managed just one outing for Henry’s side before the global health crisis struck. But before his move to Montreal, Celtic wanted to sign Wanyama –
Indeed, Wanyama – who played 91 times for Celtic during a two-year period between 2011 and 2013 – even told : “Celtic wanted to sign me but Spurs were taking me on rounds until the deals collapsed.”

Still only 28, Wanyama has plenty of time left in his career and has not ruled out a potential return to the Scottish champions – stating that he has unfinished business with Neil Lennon’s side.
“They need to let you grow and achieve what you want,” Wanyama said,. “But I want to play for Celtic again before I finish. I have unfinished business there. I love that club.”
During his time at Celtic, Wanyama helped the Hoops win the first two of their nine consecutive Scottish Premiership titles – and even scored 13 goals from midfield, something which he is no longer renowned for.
Amid his comments of unfinished business at Celtic and that he wants to return to Scotland, Wanyama posted a video of his first Celtic goal against Hearts in December 2011 – slamming a shot from 25 yards into the top corner.
