‘Unplayable’… Paul Merson says Chelsea’s £50m player can be impossible to play against
Chelsea have had a very tough season once again.
The Blues, yet again, look consigned to a mid-table finish in the Premier Le﷽ague, aꦗnd many of their star players haven’t turned up this term.
The £200m midfield duo of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo has underperformed, Mykhaylo Mudryk still isn’t at it, while Nicolas Jackson has also blown hot and cold.
Raheem Sterling is another player who ♕hasn’t performed to his best this term, and that has ultimately cost him his place in the Engl💟and squad.
Indeed, Sterling looks to be well and truly out of Gareth Southgate’s plꩵans at the moment, and writing in his column for , Paul Merson has been discussing Sterling🍸’s recent form.
Merson says that he does💝n’t see Sterling regaining his place in the England squad, but he has noted that he thinks that the winger can be unplayable at his best and that he turns up in big moments.
Raheem Sterling can be unplayable
Merson shared his verdict on the man.
“The pressure is on at Chelsea and the fans are on his back. He could have had a hat-trick the other daꦉy and we’d be here now saying how is he not in the squad? Instead, we’re thinking how’s he got that many caps? That’s how quickly football changes,” Merson wrote.
“When Sterling’s hot, he’s unplayable and he turꦕns up in big tournaments. I don’t know if Southgate has made his mind up on him but I don’t see him at the Euros. It’s hard to make a case for him after the weekend.”
Should he get a call-up?
It’s very hard to say whether or not Sterling is worthy of an England call♔-up for the Euros.
On one hand, he’s been in poor form for 18 month🦩s, and other players in his position have 💧emerged.
Howeไver, at the same time, Sterling has rarely let England down and he was the Three Lions’ Player of the Tournament at the last Euros.
Sterling’s fate hangs in the balance, but if he can j🀅ust improve his form a little bit, he will s💧urely earn a place in the squad come the summer.
