Unai Emery ‘absolutely raging’ at Aston Villa star despite 3-2 win over Everton

Aston Villa produced one of the comebacks of the season to beat Everton this afternoon and give themselves a huge boost going into Champions League week.

The Villas fought back from 2-0 down as a double from Ollie Watkins and then a stunning winner from Jhon Duran put the Toffees to bed.

For Villa, it was crucial they went into this week’s clash with Young Boys on a high and after a barnstorming finish, that’s what will happen.

However, for manager Unai Emery, it’s all about being right on the button in every single minute.

And Emery, while delighted to see his team winning, was spotted unleashing some fury at new signing Ross Barkley as the minutes ticked by.

Unai Emery blasts Ross Barkley during Aston Villa v Everton

Commenting on Emery for , Adam Bate pointed out how he spotted the Villa manager going mad at Ross Barkley after he was seemingly picked up taking the wrong option with the ball.

“Emery absolutely raging at, I think, Barkley to the bemusement of the crowd. Still so demanding,” Bate pointed out.

Barkley will soon learn

This was a minor thing in most people’s eyes, with Barkley simply not going what Emery wanted in that specific moment.

However, this is a different kettle of fish for Barkley this season compared to last season.

Being the star man in a struggling Luton Town side is a whole lot different to being a player in an Aston Villa side going for the top four and with Champions League football to come.

Emery is a master at getting through European competitions but to do that, his players need to be at it from minute one through to minute 90 and beyond.#

Clearly, Barkley will have learnt a lesson here and over the season, Emery will hope he doesn’t have to lambast the midfielder quite as much.
