We’re into the final few days of the January transfer window, and things are starting to move at a breakneck speed.

Indeed, after weeks of sitting on their hands, the Premier League’s top clubs appear to have sparked into life.

Tottenham are yet to sign a new outfield player this month, despite consistent transfer links to key targets.

Tottenham wanted Randal Kolo Muani at one point, while Spurs were in talks for Milan Skriniar.

Now, with days of the window to go, Spurs have some work to do, and it would appear that Mathys Tel is a key target for Tottenham.

Spurs want Tel, and, more pertinently, they want a deal done for the attacker as soon as possible.

According to , Tottenham want to have a deal wrapped up quickly for Mathys Tel.

Spurs may do a loan or a permanent deal, but, importantly, they want negotiations to accelerate quickly.

Indeed, according to this report, Tottenham are well aware that there are clubs in better positions also vying to sign Tel.

Tottenham are 15^th in the Premier League, so their bargaining power is hardly incredible at the moment.

Manchester United want Tel, Chelsea have been linked with the striker, while Arsenal are also keen on Tel.

However, Tottenham are hoping to beat these teams to the punch and get this deal over the line.

The Frenchman is a top talent. In fact, he’s been described as ‘extraordinary’ in the past by Thierry Henry.

Tottenham deals that were hijacked

Tottenham want to get this deal wrapped up quickly, and it’s easy to understand why.

With so many teams circling around Tel, it would be easy for this deal to get hijacked, and Tottenham know this feeling only too well.

Randal Kolo Muani joined Juventus instead of Tottenham just this month, while in the past, Luis Diaz and Willian looked set to join Tottenham at certain points only to end up at Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.

William Saliba almost joined Spurs before heading to Arsenal too.

Adama Traore is another one that got away in January 2022 as he joined Barcelona on loan instead of Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Tottenham nearly signed Sadio Mane before his move to Liverpool too.

Tottenham know that if they don’t act quickly towards the end of a transfer window things can change in an instant, and, for that reason, they need to get this Tel deal wrapped up promptly.
