Tottenham told they won’t win ‘anything meaningful’ with ‘flaky’ player despite him starring vs Man United
Every Tottenham Hotspur fan across the world will be hoping that Spurs eventually build a squad packed with serial winners.
Ange Postecoglou✨ is certainly a winner, having dominated the Scottish Premiership in particular during his time at Celtic.
However, Postecoglou’s Midas touch in Glasgow is yet to be witnessed at Tottenham.
🔴But it is the hundreds of Lilywhites players who have truly come under fire for their perceived lack of a winning mentality ever since the club’s trophy-drought started after they lifted the Carabao Cup in 2008.
Just last month, ▨Simon Jordan claimed Tottenham are not progressing and pointed figures at James Maddison༺, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner as being signings in recent years who do not help them in this respect.
⭕While the Spurs players in question would not like to hear such claims, criticism is to expected when the team is languishing in 12th place in the Premier League table in February.

Simon Jordan says Tottenham won’t win “anything meaningful” with James Maddison
♏But other pundits have slated Tottenham and their squad as a whole in the same vein as Simon Jordan in the past, especially as a sole win against Manchester United does not change the picture of their shambolic season.
🌟Unless the North Londoners win a major trophy, such as the Europa League this campaign, the players and the club as a whole will have to routinely hear the same stick year after year.
After Roy Keane slammed Maddisonဣ ahead of Tottenham’s 1-0 win against Manchester United, Simon Jordan agreed with the Irishman and claimed that Ange Postecoglou’s side will not win “anything meaningful” with him in the side — slating his celebration that seemed to be aimed at the Red Devils icon.
𒁏Jordan said on talkSPORT: “Listen, there’s certain people that you listen to and have to pause for thought and I think Roy Keane probably, given the kind of player he was, I know Roy can be a pantomime villain and say things that subsequently get taken and amplified. But I think Roy Keane’s performances, achievements and level entitle him to opinion.”
🤡“I’m in the same place as Roy Keane, Maddison might have won an FA Cup with Leicester at a time when the collective of Leicester were a good side but if you think Maddison is the difference between Tottenham being a top side…he’s a good player, Maddison, a good player but for me, someone that’s sore and can’t play and someone that has an attitude that’s flaky. Good player or no good player, you’re not going to win anything meaningful with James Maddison in your side.”
However, the England international seems defiant in his stance, with ܫPostecoglou reacting to Maddison’s controversial celebration against Manchester United by admitting he was “not surprised” by the creative midfielder’s gesture. The 28-year-old has been slated quite a lot since heading to Spurs in 2023, with Maddison dubbed a “luxury player” as well.
James Maddison’s winning mentality proven after how he moaned at Heung-min Son vs Man United
ꦍThe former Leicester City technician, who already has an FA Cup winner’s medal in his trophy cabinet will naturally disagree with Simon Jordan’s opinion.
The Coventry-born playmaker certainly looks hungry to win on the pitch, with ﷽Maddison berating Heung-min Son against Manchester United🍨 for failing to play him in behind the visitors’ defence in the 43rd minute.
𝓰At the time, Tottenham were still leading 1-0 and it was the Englishman who had fired his side into the lead after returning from injury, which Simon Jordan would perhaps presume would have led him to rest on his laurels.
♍But instead, Maddison proceeded to perform well against Manchester United and was one of his side’s best players — as the statistics reflect.
JAMES MADDISON STATS FOR TOTTENHAM VS MAN UTD | |
GOALS | 1 |
CHANCES CREATED | 1 |
PASSES INTO THE FINAL THIRD | 7 |
TOUCHES IN THE OPPOSITION BOX | 3 |
DEFENSIVE ACTIONS | 5 |
🔥Creating a chance, playing seven passes into the final third, taking three touches in the opposition box and completing five defensive actions, Maddison clearly played with a point to prove.
🃏But for the Tottenham attacker to completely silence both Roy Keane and now Simon Jordan, he will have to keep delivering on the pitch.
