Van Der Vaart slams Van de Ven’s display vs Germany

Van der Vaart believes that the Netherlands really missed Van Dijk in the defeat to Germany and claimed the drop off from him to Van de Ven was substantial.

Van Dijk was sent off in 🐟Holland’s🅷 match against Hungary with the Netherlands lining up with Bart Verbruggen, Denzel Dumfries, Van de Ven, Stefan de Vrij and Jo🎃rrel H💃ato as their back-four.

Speaking live on the Dutch broadcast NOS after the game, Van der Vaart said: “I don’t easily get ashamed of the Dutch team, but today I did. We attribute so ▨many qualities to them, but this… It’s completely wrong.

“You can analyse i𝔍t, but everything just goes wrong. 🅰Then we have doubts about the absence of Virgil van Dijk, of course, you miss him. All well and good, Micky van de Ven, but this is no Van Dijk.”

The Dutch media we🌱re also highly cri♏tical of Van de Ven’s display with writing: “The Tottenham Hotspur defender was far from convincing and looked very nervous.

“Van de Ven was a source of unrest, partly due to the apparent total lack of communication at the back. It was chaos, also with capt💯ain Stefan de Vrij and goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen. It all seemed to be directly traceable to the absence of Van Dijk.”
