Tottenham fans call for Ange Postecoglou to make major selection decision and bench £22m attacker vs Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur fans have called for Ange Postecoglou to drop one of their key attackers against Aston Villa following his underwhelming display at Liverpool.

Tottenham crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Arne Slot’s team and failed to register a single attempt on target at Anfield.

Postecoglou’s squad has been seriously stretched by injuries and many matches meaning key players who have stayed fit look dead on their feet.

Spurs fans have now called for their manager to rotate ahead of the trip to Villa Park with some big changes being made to their attacking line.

Tottenham fans call for Heung-min Son to be dropped vs Aston Villa

Tottenham fans want Ange Postecoglou to drop Son Heung-min to the bench against Aston Villa with Mikey Moore taking his place on the left.

Postecoglou admitted Son needs a rest ahead of their defeat to Liverpool and his performance on Merseyside proved that was the case.

The attacker looked well off the pace against the Reds managing just two attempts at goal and completing just ten passes in 90 minutes.

Ahead of the fourth round FA Cup tie, Tottenham fans took to X to share their desire for the captain to be rest for the game at Villa Park.

“He needs to put Son on the bench next match against Aston Villa, we need players on the pitch that at least try.

“Play Moore, Bergvall and Gray in his position now we have a full defence, if not, finish the season and look for another coach who can work with the players,” claimed one fan.

Another supporter said: “Aston Villa is an important game. Can’t afford to go out against them. Ange needs to pick the lineup purely on form and who is playing with fight.

“Hopefully, a couple of players can be back for the game. Kulusevski needs to be in midfield, and Son needs to be benched.”

There were yet more shouts for Son to be dropped: “I don’t want to see Son, Bentancur or Bissouma starting in this game! Trust the youth!

“The youth players have shown more leadership than any of our senior players who are not injured except maybe Kulusevski.”

Finally, another fan said: “Son should be on the bench where he belongs, he plays the same game whenever he’s not the central striker.”

How could Ange Postecoglou set up Tottenham vs Aston Villa?

Postecoglou has been impressed with Tel in training and the Frenchman is poised to make his first start for the North London club.

Richarlison suffered a calf injury against Liverpool meaning the Brazilian could face another extended period on the sidelines.

So, Postecoglou could line up against Villa with a front three of Moore, Tel and Dejan Kulusevski.
