Tottenham eye £8m wonderkid who ‘plays like Gareth Bale’ as Crystal Palace find new Olise

Ask Tottenham Hotspur supporters for their abiding memory of the legendary Garth Bale, and one image will appear in the minds of the majority.

꧑An image of their Welsh wing wizard cutting inside onto that lethal left boot and firing pinpoint shots into the back of the net.

Gareth Bale♏ scored 71 goals across two spells at Tottenham Hotspur. And, a la Arjen Robben in his Bayern Munich pomp, that cut-inside-and-shoot approach rapidly became his party piece as a player who once became the most expensive in football history blossomed into a bonafide superstar in North London.

ཧWhether Dario Osorio will ever ascend to such heights remains to be seen.

But the Chile international – Osorio was himself linked with Tottenham Hotspur♛ in the last few days – certainly performed a passable Gareth Bale impression as he found the net for Midtjylland against Hoffenheim in the UEFA Europa League last week.

Tottenham target Dario Osorio likened to Gareth Bale

🐈Controlling a crossfield ball beautifully with an almost weightless elegance, Osorio needed no invitation as he drifted onto his left foot and curled home.

💜It was a finish reminiscent of what his former Universidad de Chile team-mate Johnny Herrera said when the goalkeeper likened young Osorio to arguably the finest Tottenham player of the modern era.

♌“I think that when he stands out more is when he plays like Gareth Bale,” Herrera told  shortly before his move to Denmark back in 2023.

“He’s half a Gareth Bale lookalike.”

🦩 reported last week that Tottenham, who were linked with Osorio when he was starting to make a name for himself back home in Chile, are watching the 20-year-old again. Osorio is reportedly valued at around £8 million these days.

🅷And, interestingly, Bale is not the only former Real Madrid icon Osorio has been compared to by those who know him best.

ꦺ“I find Dario to be a very good player. I see very good things in him,” Emmanuel Ojeda, another former Universidad team-mate, told .

ﷺ“He is a very good player. A gem. Does he have similarities with [Angel] Di Maria? I hadn’t thought about it but yes.

✱“I know his [Di Maria’s] story. If Dario gets psyched up, he can [follow in Di Maria’s footsteps]. He has all the conditions.”

Brentford and Crystal Palace also in the race

🧜Reports claim that, in addition to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur, Osorio is also on the radars of Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Palace have struggled badly without the mercurial Michael Olise♉ running things on the right. This is not to say Oliver Glasner’s side see Osorio as a readymade replacement – that Hoffenheim strike one of only three in 16 games this season – but maybe he could grow into such a role.

🦂Brentford, meanwhile, have built the foundations of their recent success upon a stable Scandinavian base. Thomas Frank, their Danish head coach, for instance.

TBR understands that Brentford are also watching Daniel Svensson🎀, the Sweden Under 21 international left-back who plays in Denmark himself with Nordsjaelland.
