‘Top target’… Celtic have identified a priority position to strengthen this summer

Celtic’s January transfer business was heavily criticised over the course of the winter window and, to be fair, it’s not hard to see why.

With Brendan Rodgers being extremely vocal in the months leading up to the January window about looking to add quality players to key positions of the Celtic team, the signings of Adam Idah and Ni🍌colas Kuhn left the fans feeling seriously underwhelmed.

Rodgers wanted four new players. He got two. And neither were in the one position t🍌hat the Celtic supporters were crying out for to be strengthened.

The left-back area of this Celtic side has long been regarded as one of the weakest in the team. Greg Taylor has done a fine job over the past two seasons but the lack of quality backup and competition for the Scotland defender is a concern.

But now, it seems, that Celtic have identified this position as a priority for the summer transfer window. That’s according to journalist, Dean Jones.

Jones said [], “As you look at it right now, you would say that left-back will be the top target for the summer window. But you’re also wondering what🍸 situation Celtic will even be in by then.

“At the beginning of January, I thought this was going to be a strengthening job to make sure they𒆙 can hold Rangers off in terms of a title challenge. But here we are at the start of February, and Rangers are firmly back in the title challenge.

“I think that there is🥂 plenty of time for the scope to change around transfers and also for Brendan Rodgers to totally win every🅺body over. There are certainly going to be some question marks about the results of recent times.”

Links to PSG defender, Layvin Kurzawa, in January came to nothing as the defender’s wage demands seemed to be a problem for Celtic.

With plenty of cash in the bank, the Celtic supporters will be hoping that Rodgers gets the player he is after because if the Hoops do win the league this season, they will need an upgrade on Taylor and Alexandro Bernabei to take on the Champions League again.
