Tony Mowbray shares what he’s seen from Tottenham’s Will Lankshear in West Brom training that’s ‘Premier League quality’
Tottenham Hotspur forward Will Lankshear is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion after completing a switch in the latter stages of the January transfer window.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou sent Will Lankshear out on loan following an impressive first half of the season at Tottenham where he made six first-team appearances.
Lankshear also scored his first senior goal for Tottenham earlier this season, netting in the Europa League loss to Galatasaray in November.
The 19-year-old will now be tasked with helping West Brom seal a playoff spot amid intense competition from no fewer than 11 other teams.
Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has now shared what he has seen from Lankshear in training that’s already made the manager think the Spurs gem is “Premier League quality”.

Tottenham gem Will Lankshear deemed a ‘pretty pure’ finisher
Lankshear has only been at West Brom for just over a week and is yet to debut for the club, but Mowbray says he’s already noticed how clean a finisher he is.
“Lankshear… I have to say he looks pretty pure in his finishing, his ball contact, the way he puts the ball in the net looks pretty clean to me,” Mowbray told the .
“Sometimes you’d say players are a bit scruffy in the box, off their studs, or heel and goes in.
“Lankshear looks clear in his finishing, when he wants to whack it with his left foot into the bottom corner it goes in the bottom corner.”
Mowbray added: “Young Will’s quality looks Premier League quality – how sharp and snappy he is.
“His finishing quality is very, very clean, almost eyeball contact when it flashes across the box.”
When Lankshear could debut for West Brom
Although Lankshear joined West Brom on 31 January, he wasn’t in the matchday squad for their 2-1 loss to Plymouth on 2 February.
West Brom are next scheduled to be in action on Saturday 8 February in a 12:30 kick-off against Sheffield Wednesday at The Hawthorns.
The Baggies also added Adam Armstrong to their ranks, so Lankshear will have some strong competition for a starting spot in the Midlands.
West Brom also have Devante Cole and Karlan Grant up front along with Daryl Dike and Josh Maja, although the latter two are currently recovering from injury.
In addition, Mowbray has been using wingers Jed Wallace and Grady Diangana as false nines to lead the line in recent weeks.
“The options at the top end of the pitch look really good,” said Mowbray.
“The coaching staff and myself have to find the right balance for what team we play on any given day.”
Mowbray added: “Let’s hope that competition drives the standards, drives the determination to get in the starting line-up.
“I’m not sure you can ever have enough good strikers, it keeps them sharp and wanting to score in every game.
