Three key moments as Leeds recorded a 3-1 victory over Birmingham City
The weekend’s action once again kicked off with a Friday night under the lights in the Championship. This week the cameras were at St Andrew’s as a struggling Birmingham City welcomed promotion-chasing Leeds United.
Birmingham went into the game with only two wins in fifteen, a poor return since Gianfranco Zola replaced Gary Rowett in the dugout.
Under the guidance of Garry Monk, Leeds’ fortunes have been much better. Despite a slight recent dip of winning two out of five, the Yorkshire club’s overall consistency sees them close in on a guaranteed playoff spot.

Chris Wood goal – 14 minutes
Just a minute after Leeds survived a threatening Birmingham attack, which saw Robert Green called to action in saving from Che Adams, The Whites took the lead.
A rapid turnover saw the ball move from Green to goal in just a matter of touches. Liam Bridcutt received possession from his goalkeeper, before moving it on to Luke Ayling. The advancing full-back played a long ball from inside his own half towards Chris Wood, the top-scorer finishing with a deft first touch, lobbing the on-rushing Tomasz Kuszczak.
It was another brilliantly taken goal by Leeds’ top scorer – after Birmingham defender Ryan Shotton failed to deal with the bouncing ball. The Blues’ back three really made it too easy for Wood with poor positioning, and an inability to cover each other.
