Thierry Henry singles out two Arsenal players for criticism after watching them vs Bayern Munich
Thierry Henry has singled out two Arsenal players for criticism after last night’s defeat at Bayern Munich.
Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage after a 1-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena.
Mikel Arteta’s side underwhelmed on the night as they struggled to cause any real problems for a Bayern side low on confidence.
It was a disappointing end to their return to the competition, particularly as Thomas Tuchel’s side deserved to come away with a 3-2 aggregate win.
Despite a chance for Gabriel Martinelli in the first half, it was Bayern who stepped things up after the break.
The Bundesliga giants rattled the woodwork through Leon Goretzka within a minute of the second half and that was a sign of things to come.
Bayern were rewarded for a dominant start to the second period just after the hour mark as Joshua Kimmich netted with a well-taken header.
The right-back found himself in plenty of space inside the Arsenal box following an exceptional delivery from Raphael Guerriero.
Kimmich was allowed to dart past Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Martinelli unchallenged.

Henry criticises Arsenal duo following Champions League exit
Speaking on , Henry singled out Tomiyasu and Martinelli for criticism following Kimmich’s goal.
“You could see that both teams didn’t want to lose the game, they were both not really going for it,” the Arsenal legend said.
“It was a moment of bad defending for me, not only from Martinelli but I would put Tomiyasu also in that, not covering his centre-back and closing that line.”

Arteta had a couple of big decisions to make down the left-hand side, with Jakub Kiwior struggling against Leroy Sane in the first leg and Oleksandr Zinchenko’s shaky display in the defeat to Aston Villa.
Going with Tomiyasu seemed like the right choice, even though the Japanese defender hadn’t started a game since December.
On the whole, he dealt with the threat of Sane well but he will be disappointed with his positioning for Kimmich’s winner.
The same goes for Martinelli as he failed to track the right-back’s run and after a disappointing evening for the Brazilian, he was replaced by Gabriel Jesus just minutes after the goal.
Bayern vs Arsenal in numbers
It’s fair to say that Arsenal can have little complaints about the result in Munich last night.
The reflect what was a composed performance from Bayern, with Tuchel’s side edging possession and managing 15 shots to Arsenal’s eight.
Indeed, over the course of two legs, Bayern created in comparison to the Gunners’ 1.95.
