Theo Walcott says £30m striker Arsenal want to sign reminds him of Alan Shearer
Arsenal are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta look to strengthen the squad.
The Gunners are flying in the Champions League and have also done well in the Premier League, although the title is all-but gone for them.
Arsenal will be eager to strengthen further in pursuit of the Premier League title as well as being able to compete on multiple front.
A new striker is high on Arsenal’s agenda, with TBR Football recently revealing that the Gunners have cast their net far and wide.
Now, Theo Walcott has spoken highly of a striker on Arsenal’s radar, comparing him to Newcastle and England legend Alan Shearer.

Theo Walcott says Arsenal target Liam Delap plays like Alan Shearer
The player in question is Liam Delap, who has been impressing for a struggling Ipswich Town side this season.
Walcott, speaking on the Premier League’s latest Rising Stars show on YouTube, explained why he likes Delap so much.
“Liam Delap is a player that actually reminds me of a Newcastle player, Alan Shearer, a little bit, if I’m going to compare him to someone,” said Walcott.
“Because of his stature, how he bullies defenders, doesn’t care if they’re playing for the top teams, we’ve seen that this year already.
“I think as well the amount of goals he’s scored already for a struggling Ipswich side at times shows his character, that he actually believes he’s always going to have an opportunity.
“That’s one thing as well, give him that opportunity and he takes it, he’s quick.
“I think people forget how powerful he is and I like the fact he’s a bit old-school bringing it back.”
Walcott continued: “He’s type of player that, during drills, he’d be out there until he scored a certain amount on his right, a certain amount on his left.
“You get those players where the coaches say ‘come on in’, ‘no, I’m practising my finishing’, because that’s important to him, that’s his game.
“I know he’s definitely got that hunger about him that wants to be the best.”
The state of play involving Arsenal and Liam Delap
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently confirmed that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have all touched base with Delap’s camp.
However, Chelsea are currently leading the race for Delap, while Manchester United and Newcastle United have also been doing a lot of work on the striker.
It has also been reported that Delap would prefer a move to Arsenal over Man United.
This is largely due to the fact the Gunners are better placed to offer him European football next season.
Earlier this month, it became known that Delap has a £30million release clause in his contract at Ipswich Town, should they get relegated to the Championship.
