‘The only incoming’… Spurs’ January would be over if they signed ‘incredible’ player
Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a new centre-back.
Radu Dragusin looks set to be the man that Spurs ultimately end up getting, but, at one point, it looked as though Jean-Clair Todibo would be the player Tottenham went for.
Indeed, Todibo was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham a couple of weeks ago, but speaking on , Jack Pitt-Brook has shared why this move isn’t going ahead.
The journalist says that Todibo would’ve cost up to £60m, and the view within Spurs is that they wouldn’t have been able to sign anyone else if they spent so much on the Nice ace this month.

Todibo would’ve been Spurs’ only January signing
Pitt-Brooke spoke about the ‘’ defender.
“I gather Todibo would’ve cost £50m or £60m, and Dragusin would be a fraction of that and I wonder whether given that Tottenham want a centre-back, a number eight and a wide attacking player, that if they did Todibo he would’ve been the only incoming whereas if they go for Dragusin they have the wiggle room to do one or two others even if that’s loans or cheaper deals, putting your eggs in a £50m/60m basket this month just doesn’t feel quite right.
More to come
While it’s somewhat frustrating to hear that Todibo won’t be joining Spurs due to the price, it’s exciting to hear that there may be more signings to come after Dragusin.
January is a long month, and, as Pitt-Brook says, Spurs have plenty of work to do in terms of getting a new midfielder and potentially a new attacker too.
Who these players will be remains to be seen, but the fact that Tottenham seem to be going for a cheaper deal with Dragusin may mean that they ultimately do have more money to spend when it comes to bolstering those other positions.
