The big step forward Tottenham have now taken in Mathys Tel pursuit amid intense Premier League interest

Tottenham Hotspur are in pursuit of attacking reinforcements this month in a bid to turn their season around.

In recent days, Tottenham have been made aware of Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, who is now available on the market.

TBR Football recently confirmed that Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United have been contacted by intermediaries after Tel decided he wants to move.

TBR Football also understands that Tel has fallen out with Vincent Kompany and now wants to leave Bayern.

Now, Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Spurs have taken a decisive step in pursuit of the 19-year-old.

Tottenham now in direct talks with Mathys Tel camp

Plettenberg has taken to X to report that Tottenham have “definitely very interested” in Tel and are now in “direct talks” with the player’s camp.

As things stand, it’s an open race and no decision has been made yet in wake of Tel deciding he wants to leave the Allianz Arena this month.

Arsenal are preparing a bid for Tel, having sat up and taken notice of his availability.

However, Paul O’Keefe has reported that Tel fancies joining Manchester United.

As for Chelsea, they were in for him when Bayern asked about Christopher Nkunku, but Tel said he was not convinced about moving to Chelsea.

Now that the subject has come around again, TBR Football understands that Tel simply isn’t keen on a move to Chelsea.

The  believe Bayern want at least £40million for Tel – who they spent £25million to sign from Rennes when he was just 17.

Whichever club signs Tel would be getting themselves an incredible talent.

In 2022,  named him in their Next Generation list of their 60 best youngsters in world football.

Meanwhile, ‘s Jacek Kulig has given Tel a 10 out of 10 for potential, deeming him a “world-class” prospect and comparing him to Thierry Henry.

Also, he deemed Tel a “complete forward” and a “well rounded player who has all the qualities to play on many other positions and attacking roles”.

Kulig also described Tel as a “powerful and determined forward with killer-instinct, superb technique on the ball, good dribbling skills and cleverness at his off-the-ball movements”.
