Sunderland have been given the opportunity to sign their very own Luis Suarez
Sunderland have the opportunity to make a great summer even better by signing a young Premier League striker who has been likened to Luis Suarez.
The Black Cats have been busy strengthening their ranks ahead of their long-awaited return to the Premier League, and they’ve been turning plenty of heads.
Sunderland have made seven signings so far, bringing in Granit Xhaka, Enzo le Fee, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, Chemsdine Talbi and Simon Adingra.
The Black Cats have now been given the green light to sign Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea, and he would be an exciting signing for the Wearside outfit.

Sunderland target Marc Guiu likened to Luis Suarez
TBR Football recently confirmed that Sunderland had spoken to Chelsea about Guiu, with fellow Premier League newcomers Leeds United and Burnley also in the picture.
In addition, Chelsea are happy for Guiu to join another Premier League team, as both parties feel it would be best for his development.
Guiu may only be 19 years of age, but he has certainly shown glimpses of his talent and potential at Chelsea despite his relative lack of game time.
The Spaniard made 16 appearances in all competitions last season, and he scored six goals in seven Europa Conference League outings.
Guiu was one of the Chelsea players who made the 7,000-mile round trip to Almaty to take on FC Astana in December last year, and he netted a brace in the 3-1 win.
During the game, Chelsea cult hero Joe Cole suggested that Guiu is similar in style to Suarez, one of the best strikers of his generation.
Cole said on TNT Sports: “Marc Guiu must have watched Luis Suarez as a young man at Barcelona.
“It was instinctive. I liken him to Luis Suarez. I’m not saying he’s Suarez right now, but he has that instinct and bravery.
“This kid can score goals. He can be a big star for this club.
“He was a thorn in the side throughout for Astana in that first half. He was direct and the first goal was exquisite from the young man.”
After the second half got under way, Cole said: “Some of the Premier League clubs will be looking at Marc Guiu and hope to have him on loan.”
Seven months on, it looks like this will be the case, and one of the Premier League’s newly-promoted sides could be set to bag one of Chelsea’s best young forwards.

What Marc Guiu could bring to Sunderland
Although the Suarez comparison may be the most high-profile praise Guiu has received for his efforts and quality in front of goal, it’s not the only time he has been lauded.
Albert Capellas, Barcelona’s former assistant director of youth football, told in 2024: “Marc Guiu is a finisher.
“He is a deep runner. He is a very good header. He is fast, powerful, a fantastic boy. Very competitive.”
Capellas added: “Marc Guiu is not a player who has unbelievable skills one against one, who can dribble past players.
“He is another type of player but he is exceptional in his position, in the work that he has to do, in his mentality. He has the nose to score goals.”
Meanwhile, teammate Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall said of Guiu after the Astana game: “I’ve never seen anyone press like him. He never slows down.”
