Steve Nicol admits £34m Liverpool player was ‘so good’ he proved him wrong vs AC Milan

Liverpool looked like they’d been playing under Arne Slot for a couple of seasons in last night’s performance against AC Milan.

In such a short space of time, Arne Slot has found a way to get the very best out of all his Liverpool players, which was somet𝓀hing that Jurgen Klopp also did so well in his time at Anfield.

The Reds enjoyed 51% possession and had 23 shots to AC Milan’s eight in what was a truly dominant performa♎nce at the San Siro.

Virgil🍎 🅰van Dijk was hailed for his leadership in the game by Clarence Seedorf after Liverpool went a goal down.

Ibrahima Konate joined him on the s🔯coresheet by bagging his first goal for Liverpool in around two and a half years.

However, Steve Nicol was more impressed with a different pl𒀰ayer last night…

Steve Nicol admits he was wrong about Ryan Gravenberch

Ryan Graven💮berch picked up the Man of the Match award for his performance against AC Milan.

Jamie Carragher was quick to praise Gravenberch, stating that he looks like 🐷a completely different player this season for the Red♏s.

Whe♕n talking on ESPN last night, Steve Nicol agreed with the former Liverpool defender.

His comments were relayed on ESPN FC’s YouTube channel, where he admitted that he was wrong abo🔯ut Ryan Gravenberch last season.❀

His colleague said to him.

“I watched a lot🐽 of Liverpool games with you last season and w💖ith Gravenberch you were not convinced at all.”

Nicol replied.

“He’s just playing in a completely different positi🍸on. Under Klopp, yes his position was playing in the midfield, but it was more about going forward.

“This Gravenberch is about winning💖 the ball back and his starting position, and his starting position has been so good that he’s been breaking up all kinds of different plays from all every single game that he’s played in. And right now he’s as a good a player in this Liverpool 11 as anybody.”

Ryan Gravenberch’s stats vs AC Milan

The Dutchman was everywhere against AC Milan in what was arguably one of his best per𒉰formances in a Liverpool shirt.

Gravenberch, who earns £150k-a-week, had 57 touches of the ball, a passinඣg accuracy percentage of 90, won three duels, made seven interceptions, nine ball recoveries, made one clearance and one tackle (as per ).

This isn’t the first time he’s received praise this season, as Tim Sherwood was wo﷽wed by his display against Nottingham Forest, despite the result.

Live𒁃rpool look to have got themselves a bargain if he continues his fine run of form, having onl๊y joined for a fee of £34 million.
