Speculative Morata bid would get Tottenham more reliable cover for Kane
Fernando Llorente wants to leave Tottenham in next month’s transfer window,
The Spaniard has failed to make much of an impression since joining from Swansea as Harry Kane has proved largely undroppable.
With his contract running out at the end of the season, Spurs are unwilling to offer him a new one and that means the experienced frontman to return to Athletic Bilbao next month.
In truth, it would be tough for Mauricio Pochettino to convince Llorente to remain in north London; it is clear he will never be anything other than cover for Kane, who will start every game when fit.
The Argentine has struggled to find reliable backup for his talismanic striker throughout his reign, and it was what stopped Alvaro Morata from coming to Spurs last summer.

But as that Morata has been offered to Barcelona, perhaps it is the right time for Pochettino to go back in again for the Spaniard.
Morata didn’t want to play second fiddle when he moved to England but perhaps the need to rebuild his stock could make him reconsider that opinion; he may even be glad to be out of the firing line.
It could work for everyone; Chelsea offload a struggling striker, Morata gets a clean break and Spurs get a better backup than Llorente for Kane.
