‘Spectacular’ player may have changed his mind after sharing desire to sign for Arsenal
Arsenal’s summer transfer window is beginning to gain some traction as the players now train in the Los Angeles heat.
Mikel Arteta has had to endure a slow start to the summer window with Arsenal only just getting up and running.
The Gunners recently got off the mark in the window with the signing of young goalkeeper Charlie Setford from Ajax.
However, this is not the big money signing which is going to bolster their efforts in dethroning Manchester City this season.
One of the players who they have identified to potentially improve the starting XI has now possibly had his head turned by Barcelona’s increased interest.

Arsenal target is now keen on Barcelona move
The Gunners are now closing in on their first major signing of the summer with defender Riccardo Calafiori.
It would be a statement signing on the back of the Italy international’s impressive 2023/24 campaign including the Euros.
Calafiori is now expected to sign for Arsenal imminently with the two clubs now finalising the proposed deal.

According to , Mikel Merino is now keen on the prospect of making the move to Barcelona this summer.
Like Arsenal, Barca are said to be showing some real interest with the possibility of playing his football at the Camp Nou a big bonus.
Hansi Flick’s side would also be willing to offer Merino regular first team action but they would not be able to offer him the same salary as he would get in north London.
And from Real Sociedad’s perspective, the method of payment could be drawn out by Barcelona in instalments which may not be the case with the Gunners.
Mikel Merino shunned Atletico Madrid for Arsenal
Just yesterday, it had been suggested Merino preferred a move to Arsenal over Atletico Madrid.
However, it seems the magnitude of a potential move to Barcelona is a different perspective altogether for the Spanish midfielder.
Atletico was not the only club the Spain international has turned down in recent weeks.
It has also been claimed the ‘spectacular’ Merino rejected the opportunity to join Chelsea with the Blues not seen in the same calibre as Arsenal currently.
Although Arsenal seemed to be in the driving seat on this one, things may be changed dramatically following Barcelona’s interest arriving at Merino’s door.
