Southampton set sights on Carlos Corberan
Crook has claimed on X that West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan𝓡 is under consideration by Southampton along with Hjulmand.
♑Sky Sports News have also reported that Corberan is wanted by the Saints, who would like to have a new head coach in place for Sunday’s game against Fulham.
However, TBR Football transfer insider Graeme Baileyꦑ has confirmed that Southampton are unlikely to pay Corberan’s £2.5million release clause.
What could Corberan bring to Southampton?
🌳Although Corberan appears to be an outsider with regards to the Southampton vacancy, he’d certainly be a good shout for the role.
🌌Corberan’s record in English football is impressive, having guided Huddersfield Town and West Brom to play-off qualification.
💝As a member of Bielsa’s coaching staff at Leeds, he also had a hand in a play-off finish for the Whites followed by promotion the following year.
𓆉Back in 2018, Bielsa sung Corberan’s praises to the , deeming the Spaniard a “very talented” individual.
♋Corberan’s style of play places emphasis on defensive solidity, high-pressing and maintaining possession, which would be good for a Saints side that has conceded 36 league goals this term.
𝓡Southampton are next in action on Wednesday when they host Liverpool in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
🔯The Saints then head to Fulham on Sunday in their final Premier League game before Christmas.
