‘Soon be over’… Chris Sutton predicts who’ll win between Luton and Arsenal
Luton Town and Arsenal lock horns in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Mikel Arteta‘s table-topping Gunners make the 31.5 mile trip north to take on the Premier League newcomers in a 8:15pm kickoff.
Chris Sutton, writing on , has predicted that Arsenal will prevail against the Hatters and extend their lead at the top of the table.
The pundit acknowledged that the Gunners don’t have a very good record at Luton’s home ground, but reckons they have enough to get over the line and win 2-0.
“Arsenal have been much more pragmatic so far than they were last season and have not hit the same heights with their attacking play, but it is working for them,” he wrote.

“We know how spirited Luton are at home but the way Mikel Arteta’s side are playing at the moment, I just expect them to find a way to win.
“Historically, the Gunners used to struggle at Kenilworth Road when Luton were in the top-flight in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
“And they have not won there since January 1984, but that long wait for a victory should soon be over.”
Arsenal will hope to end patchy ‘recent’ record against Luton
Although Arsenal are favourites against Luton, a look at the history books shows that the Gunners struggled at their ground when the two teams were regularly up against each other.
As per , Arsenal are winless in 10 league and cup matches away to Luton since beating them 2-1 in January 1984.
However, these stats have been pretty much locked in for over 30 years. The last time the Gunners faced the Hatters in any competition was back on Boxing Day 1991.
On that day, Arsenal lost the First Division match 1-0 thanks to a Mick Harford goal.
The Hatters were heavy favourites to struggle all season, but they’re currently out of the bottom three, sitting in 17th place on nine points.
However, Arsenal are flying high at the top of the table, two points clear of second-placed Liverpool, so they’ll be a tough opponent for Rob Edwards’ side.
