Sky journalist shares latest Arsenal transfer update live from the USA

Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States has been a resounding success for Mikel Arteta and his team so far.

After drawing with Bournemouth in their opening game, Arsenal then beat Manchester United whilst starting with the likes of Ayden Heaven and Ethan Nwaneri.

Against United, Arsenal’s Brazilian pair Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli also fared very well – two forwards with a point to prove this season.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Arsenal will still attempt to add a new striker or winger to Arteta’s squad this summer.

After completing a deal for Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal reportedly want to make three more signings, a signal of their intent to improve their squad depth.

That being said, journalist Melissa Reddy has just provided a fresh transfer update on the club’s plans live from the US.

Mikel Arteta and Edu still searching for new midfielder and forward for Arsenal

Reddy shared that all was going to plan for Arteta and Edu right now and said that the duo were prepared to be patient in the final month of the window.

She shared: “Arteta and Edu are also assessing the market for midfield and forward options but they are very aware that the pool of players who can elevate their level is quite shallow so they are prepared to be patient and work a little more surgically in the market.

“In terms of outgoings, the feeling is that Emile Smith Rowe could seal what would be a club record transfer for Fulham this week. Just the final bits of an agreement to settle on.

“Marseille haven’t got anywhere close to Eddie Nketiah’s valuation.

“Reiss Nelson has several suitors, including Leicester, but there hasn’t been a significant proposal received yet. In general it’s very much going according to the script for Arsenal.”

Victor Osimhen left out of Napoli’s pre-season squad

Of course, if all of Smith Rowe, Nketiah and Nelson were sold then it could propel Arsenal to chase a very ambitious move before the end of the window.

Arsenal target Victor Osimhen was excluded from Napoli’s squad in their pre-season friendly on Sunday, a striker who is more than ready to leave the club.

And although Arsenal do already have Kai Havertz and Jesus as their centre-forwards, perhaps the Brazilian could often play out wide, paving the way for Osimhen’s goals.

That being said, it seems as if a different Arsenal target has now decided to stay at his current club and fight for his place.
