Simon Mignolet and John Achterberg react as Liverpool make Thursday announcement

that Caomihin Kelleher has signed a long-term contract at Anfield, after a breakthrough season with The Reds. The Ireland gꦰoalkeeper made five appearances for the senior side under Jurgen Klopp in 2020-21. Simon Mignolet reacted, as did a couple of others.

Kelleher, 22, broke into the Liverpool side last season with a handful of first-team outings. Then, during 2020-21, Kelleher mad💛e five appearances despite the presence of both Alisson and Adrian. The latter has also signed a new deal, but Kelleher has agreed to stay put, putting pen to paper.

Kelleher needs to leave Liverpoo🥀l on loan. Now 22 years of age and at the beginning of what could potentially be a burgeoning international career, he needs game time. But with Liverpool penning Adrian down to what is likely to be another 12 months, Kelleher will remain third choice.

He might even get the odd Carabao Cup game, but the chances of Kelleher exceed🐼ing five appearanc🌄es is unlikely. The goalkeeper needs to go on loan, join a Championship side and get 40 games. Mignolet reacted to the new Liverpool deal for Kelleher, as did John Achterberg and Jose Enrique.
