Simon Jordan’s Fulham comments reveal the ignorance of football punditry

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan was on Jim White’s talkSport radio show on Thursday, discussꦺing Fulham and their𒉰 return to the Premier League.

Jordan criticised the appointment of Claudio Ranieri, but most notable was his flagrant inaccuracies over Fulham’s transfer business — aღ widespread ignorance that permeates football punditry.

“I think [Joka♈novic] was slightly naive about the manner in which he was going to approach the Premier League,” Jordan said. “Khan gave him 100 million quid to go and buy players with, and he felt he could attack the Premier League in a certain way — and it unwound Fulham.”

Jordan gets a simp𝐆le fact utterly wrong when he claims Shahid Khan gave Slavisa Jokanovic “100 million quid” ღto buy players.

Anyone with even a remote knowledge of the way Fulham operates knows that Jokanovic is not responsible for buying or selling players, and tha♏t the is controlled by a teܫam headed by Vice Chairman Tony Khan.

There are a number of accurate critiques to make about Jokanovic, but player recruitment is clearly not one of them, as the manager had no say i🔯n the vast number of summer signings brought in at Fulham.

One of the bigg♐est issues with Fulham’s start to the campaign has been the lack of quality defenders — blame that solely must lie with the player recruitment tꦿeam.

Jokanovic was not cut out for the top flight, but he was done no favours by Ton𝔉y Khan, who failed to sign adequate defensive cover — leaving the likes of Tim Ream, Denis Odoi, and Cyrus Christie to play signficant roles des﷽pite lacking Premier League quality.

In all, Jordan’s placement of blame on Slavisa Jokanovic for Fulham’s poor summer business is completely mi꧑sguided and reveals a widespread lack of research from the world of football pundits.
