Simon Jordan unhappy after what Paul Merson has said about Liverpool’s manager search

Simon Jordan has taken issue with something Paul Merson said about Liverpool’s search for a new manager recently.

Jurgen Klopp’s nine-year spell at Liverpool is set to come to an end this summer and he’s hoping to bow out with a Premier League title.

The Reds suffered a signiꦏficant blow on Sunday after a shock 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield. But with six🍃 games left to play, Liverpool remain just two points behind league leaders Manchester City.

Despite the focus being firmly on the title race🍌 at the moment, the Reds continue to be linked with a potential replacement for Klopp.

Xabi Alonso looked set to be the man to take over from Klopp for a while but the former Liverpool midfielder has since confirmed his de𒁃sire to remain at Bayer Leverkusen.

Alonso has delivered a Bundesliga title to the Ger🌠man club for the first time in its history, while they also remain unbeaten this season.

🎐It took many by surprise when Alonso announced he wouldn’t be leaving Leverkusen this summer, particularly with Liverpool and Bayern Munich keen.

Paul Merson certainly fell into that category as he admitꦛted he was ‘’ at Alonso’s decision.

But Simon Jordan belie🌌ves A𝕴lonso is ‘wise’ for wanting to remain in Germany and feels the choice could benefit him in the long run.

Jordan unhappy with Merson’s comments on Liverpool

While discussing Alonso’s incredible c⛎ampaign at Leverkusen, Jordan explained why he believes Alonso made the right ꦦcall on his future.

“I think he was absolutely right not to have taken the🍸 Liverpool job. I think he was very sensible,” the former Crystal Palace owner told .

“Often in football people t𒁃ake the opportunity because it’s there, it’s the immediate opportunity.🤪”

“I thought it was strange t🍎hat it was priced into Leverkusen’s thinking that they would have this propensity to release him because it was priced in, w𓂃asn’t it? Saying well, they’ve got a relationship with the manager where if a bigger club comes in, you can leave,” he added.

“Well, what do you think of your own clu✅b if you’ve already put that in there and it’s an implicit understanding?

“But I think it’s a telling thought process that he’s quite a mature individual🌜 that sees opportunities and thinks well, I’ll build, they’ll come.

“I was listening to Paul Merson saying the other day that this is stupid. Well, that’s why you manage Walsall Paul😼. Because with due respect, this guy’s managing…”

Former Aston Villa boss Martin O’Ne🦋ill then ﷺinterjected and asked what Merson said about Alonso’s decision.

“He’s saying how could you turn down Liveಌrpool, lack of ambition, losing mentality,” Jordan went on.

“I’m looking again and going you’ve just won the Bundesl🌱iga you know where you’re at. Liverpool is a… following Klopp is a tall order. I think it’s wise to avoid it.”
