Sean Dyche wanted Ollie Watkins before he made Aston Villa move
Burnley manager Sean Dyche has conceded he wanted to sign Ollie Watkins before the striker completed his move to Aston Villa in the summer.
The Clarets boss was speaking to the media today ahead of the sides’ Premier League clash at Villa Park on Thursday.
They had a great result against Arsenal at the weekend, but Burnley have had a tough start to the 2020/21 season, with goalscoring one of their main issues.

They’ve managed just six goals in 11 games so far – only Sheffield United have scored fewer.
Burnley ultimately didn’t add any new strikers to their squad during the last window, but Dyche has claimed he wanted a man he’ll come up against tomorrow.
He said (): “Ollie Watkins is certainly one they’ve brought in for a lot of money, and done well, I think.
“A player we’ve looked at, but the numbers keep rising and rising and rising, and Villa have got those numbers.”
TBR View – Burnley’s loss is Aston Villa’s gain
£75,000-a-week star Watkins () has made a very bright start to his Aston Villa career.

Considering he transferring for big money (£28 million rising to £33 million, ) from a Championship side, to have scored eight goals in 13 games so far is good going.
He’s had the chances to have posted even better statistics, but Watkins will improve the longer he spends playing regular Premier League football.
