Ryan Sessegnon and Arsenal youngster react after Tottenham make announcement yesterday

Dane Scarlett’s Tottenham Hotspur and international teammates, including Arsenal’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy, have reacted to the young forward’s post announcing his loan move to Portsmouth.

The England under-19 international hasn’t played for Antonio Conte’s side during pre-season, .

However, the Italian manager is a massive fan of Scarlett, .

Scarlett isn’t the first youngster to make a loan move to Portsmouth in recent years, with midfielder Harvey White making the switch to the south coast two seasons ago.

White said on Scarlett’s Instagram: “Smash in brother! Top club you will enjoy”.

Scarlett was also encouraged by Arsenal full-back Norton Cuffy.

The Gunners youngster went out on loan to League One last season, when he was with Lincoln City, and Scarlett will be hoping to have a similarly positive impact in England’s third tier this year.

A Scarlett loan will benefit Spurs long-term

Tottenham have made a habit of sending some of their top prospects out on loan and successfully integrating them back into the first team.

Before suffering an injury in February, Oliver Skipp had been a vital cog in Conte’s system after a brilliant loan spell at Norwich that saw the Canaries promoted to the Premier League, and his manager believes he’s got a ‘big season ahead’.

Another more senior Spurs player who may need a loan move to break into the first team is Joe Rodon, who has been linked with a move to Premier League new boys Fulham.

Scarlett has been around the Tottenham first team since 2020, making his debut in the Europa League against Ludogorets, and the 18-year-old featured prominently last season at the start of Spurs’ doomed Europa Conference League campaign.

Scarlett has yet to score a senior league goal, but given the reaction of his teammates to the announcement, there’s every confidence that the young striker will hit the ground running in League One.
