Ruben Amorim gives his opinion on Ruud van Nistelrooy after Man United draw Leicester in the FA Cup
Manchester United’s reward for beating Arsenal in the FA Cup third round was a meeting with recent interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy at Old Trafford at the start of February.
Man United will face Leicester City at home in the FA Cup fourth round, a tie Ruben Amorim should be confident of navigating.
Van Nistelrooy has now been in charge of Leicester for eight matches after bridging the gap between Erik ten Hag and Amorim quite successfully.
The United legend has a much tougher job on his hands at the King Power Stadium – things haven’t started seamlessly for the former PSV Eindhoven manager.
But Van Nistelrooy will hope that Leicester’s win against Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup third round can be a turning point.
Ruben Amorim ‘looking forward’ to Ruud van Nistelrooy reunion
Whilst Amorim’s focus was predominantly on praising his United players following their hard-fought victory over Arsenal, the Portuguese manager did take a second to speak about a reunion with Van Nistelrooy.
Amorim spoke to about the prospect of facing the interim manager that he replaced, one who will always have close ties to Old Trafford.

United’s current boss admitted that he did speak to Van Nistelrooy before he arrived in Manchester, a conversation he’s looking forward to continuing.
Amorim said: “I talked with him before I came. I’m looking forward to speaking with him.
“He’s a class guy but we need to win. Maybe we’ll be divided because he loves this club but we need to win.”
Altay Bayindir pushing for number one spot at Man United
Of course, Altay Bayindir will be in between the sticks when United face Leicester at the beginning of February, United’s hero at the Emirates Stadium.
Joshua Zirkzee celebrated Bayindir after the game, a player who really announced himself on a global stage.
Alan Shearer picked three Man United players he was incredibly impressed with from the penalty shootout win, which followed almost an hour of Amorim’s side playing with 10 men.
United showed their credentials to retain the FA Cup, at least from the point of view of their unwithering determination.
Arsenal dominated the ball in north London, but United ultimately had more will to win.
