Romano says Newcastle want £47m star who’s one of the best strikers of the ball around
Newcastle United have been linked with Portugal international Ruben Neves in recent weeks.
For instance, reported in October that the Magpies could look into a loan move for Neves from Al-Hilal.
Sandro Tonali’s recent ban has left Newcastle looking lighter in the middle of the park, so they could do with bolstering t൩heir midfield ranks in January.
Fabrizio Romano, writing on , has shared what he knows ♛about the transfer speculation involving the Magpies and Neves.
The transfer insider acknowledges that Eddie Howe is a “big fan” of the former Wolves man and that Newcastle really like ꦛhim.

However, Romano also says 🔯the Magpies are “not optimistic” about their chances of landing Neves.
This is due to an upcoming Premier League vote on the possibility of banning loan moves between associated sides later this mo🎃nth.
𒈔The 20 top flight teams will have their say at the Premier League’s next board meeting and 14 teams will need♚ to be in favour for the temporary restriction to come into effect.
The🔯 proposed motion would mean Newcastle coul🔴d not sign any players from clubs owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, such as Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad.
‘Really complicated’
“Newcastle Uni෴ted ar💦e not optimistic about their chances of signing Ruben Neves, as it looks like it’s going to be really complicated,” wrote Romano.
“Of course I think it’s important to clarify the situation su💯rrounding co-ownership of clubs, and hopefully that’s what this meeting on the 21st ꧒will do.
“We know Newcastle need a midfielder to cover for the suspended Sandro Tonali. They are still waiting to see what happen♔s on the 21st and what clubs will decide.
“But they are looking 🎶on the midfielder market in any case, though it’s also still important for them to know if they’ll still be in the Champions League, or the Europa League, or even out of Europe altogether.
“Neves remains a player they r🌳eally appreciate, 🌃Eddie Howe is a big fan, and he has experience in the Premier League.
“They really like him, and Neves would ♛be open to return to the Premier League, so le꧑t’s see what happens. At the moment all parties are waiting.”
Great shout for Newcastle – TBR View
Neves is a top talent who’s in his primeꦦ and has considerable Premier League experience, so he’d be a no-brainer of a signing for Newcastle.
A few years ago, Wolves defender Matt Doherty told the club’s that Neves was one𝕴 of the best strikers of a ball he’s ever seen.
Gary Neville has also praised ඣNeves in the past, saying he could play for any side in Europe.
Speaking via , Neville said: “I genuinely believe that Ruben Neves could go and sit in any midfield in Europe in 🌳any team in any league 𒀰and be comfortable.”
Even though Al-Hilal only signed t꧂he player in summer – and paid – it looks as though he m༒ay be willing to return to the Premier League.
Much rests on this ꦗPremier League vote later this month, so let’s see what happens on this front.
