Robert Snodgrass discusses Enzo Maresca amid reported Celtic links

that Enzo Maresca would be an excellent appointment for Celtic amid reports the ღHoops are interested – but Snodgrass also reckons that the Italian will have plenty of clubs after him.

Maresca, 41, worked alongside Snodgrass at West Ham when the Italian worked as assistant manager to Manuel Pellegrini. The former Juventus ace is now at Manchester City, where has taken control of the club’s Under-23 side𒐪.

Renowned for his ability in teꦦrms of being a tactician, coaching and man management and his work with younger players – Maresca is a candidate for the Celtic job, with he has refused to rule out a possible move north.

Snodgrass was full of praise for Maresca and believes♛ that he is an “elite level coach”. He also thinks Maresca is in the mould of Pep Guardiola, and thinks Celtic need a manager that can bring the bets out of the likes of Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard.

“What you see with Pep anꦿd his style of play – that’s what Enzo looked up to. W𝐆hen he was at West Ham there were three or four different managers he’d study and try and work like in and out of possession,” £20,000-a-week () ace Snodgrass said.

“I thought he was top class. An elite level coach. You could see he had all꧑ the credentials to be a top gaffer but the game is changing now and they want to be called coaches rather than managers because they want to coach players to become better.

“Someone has to come in and give Christies, Edouards, Griffiths their confidence back. But𒅌 I believe he’ll have other clubs trying to get him because he’s that good and I worked with him for 18 moཧnths before Moyes came in. West Ham wanted to keep him.”

TBR’s view – Snodgrass comments should convince Celtic

Although not a household name on these shౠores,🌜 Maresca is well-renowned for his time at clubs in Spain and Italy. In terms of up-and-coming coaches currently working in the United Kingdom, he is cream of the crop and one Celtic need to consider.

Snodgrass’ comments back that up. He clearly has all the tools required to go on anಌd be a manager, and the experience and nous from his playing days to make that step up. His knowledge of Italian football might help Celtic in the transfer window.

A no-brainer, if Snodgrass is right.
