Report: West Ham prepared to increase £27m James Tarkowski bid

West Ham United are prepared to increase their bid for James Tarkowski after offering £27 million for the Burnley centre-back, .

The Hammers are pursuing Tarkowski after sanctioning the controversial sale of Grady Diangana last week. that they had reluctantly agreed to sell the winger to help fund the pursuits of some of their targets.

And Tarkowski is seemingly one of the players David Moyes hopes to bring in. this week that the Irons had seen a £27 million bid rejected.

that West Ham are actually still waiting for Burnley’s response to a bid of that figure. But both reports note that Tarkowski is valued at £50 million by the Clarets.

Interestingly, the Mail does claim that the Hammers are prepared to increase their offer for Tarkowski.

Obviously, it would be a big surprise if West Ham were willing to increase their bid to a figure that Burnley are happy with. But it may be an encouraging sign that they may be prepared to offer more.

Nevertheless, Tarkowski moving to the London Stadium at this stage surely looks unlikely. The two clubs are still some way apart in their valuations of the centre-back.

It is not yet clear what the 27-year-old makes of the interest. But West Ham will surely need the defender to make it clear that he wants to leave to help their cause.

If Tarkowski is happy to stay at Burnley, the Clarets have little reason to drop their asking price. So the onus will be on West Ham to make an offer they simply cannot refuse.
