Report: Tottenham to send Vinicius back to Benfica after season of struggle

Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a new striker after it emerged t💝he north London club are due to send Carlos Vinicius back to Benfica following this season.

, the 26-year-old will return to Lisbon having struggled to make an impact as deputy to Harry Kane, missing out from the matchday squad in threeꦛ of the last four matches, including the Carabao Cup final.

In the Premier League, the Brazilian has only featured nine times, scoring just once in the 2-0 win ♕over Aston Villa way back in🌠 March.

The club did have the opt🍌ion of turning the season-long loan move into a permanent deal for £36m, however, are set to look elsewhere when the transfer window opens, lasting from the until the 31 August this year.

It is thought the club’s transfer plans are unchanged𝓡 despite the Lilywhites having sacked Jose Mourinho back in April with a still high on the list of priorities.

TBR View: Vinicius lacks the quality to make a difference

Over the course of Vinicius’s short spell with Spurs, one thing became abundantly clear and that was the towering forward’s lack of qu🐈ality in his quest to play back up to Kane.

Whilst it is obviously hard to ask anyone to try to usurp the Engl♏and international, the Rio de Janeiro-born ace proved lackluster in his attempts to even play back-up.

Across his nine appearances in the top-flight, the 26-year-old ওless than a shot per game (0.8), and often when he played up front was stranded, offering nothing to the side in terms of quality in the final third.

It will be hard to see just who the north London outfit turn to in their search for a new back-up to their star man. However, with recent reports hinting to Kane heading out of the door, the club may well nee🌠d a new striker altogether.
