TBR View: Incoming boss will have his own transfer plans

Football has moved away from the days where the manager would have complete control of▨ the football side of the club. This has been seen in the changing of roles for coaches coming into a club with the traditional label ‘manager🦄’ dropped for the new title ‘head coach’.

Arsene Wenger at Arsenal was the last man to hold such power, however, shortly before his departure as manager of the club, the Gunners hired a scout in , who helped in player recruitment. The club then hired a  director of f🍎ootball in former player , moving further away from the traditional footballing ways.

The S♎ky Sports report seems to suggest the Lilywhites will target players separately to what the new man in charge will desire. It could create for a volatile work environment especially when the person coming in will have targets of their own.

This isn’t to say the head coach wღouldn’t have any say in who comes in to his squad. However, it does highlight the dwindling nature of a person’s role at the helm of a football club in modern-day football.
