Report: Sunderland trail promotion rivals Ipswich Town in race for Bolton Wanderers defender Harry Brockbank

🤪Bolton Wanderers youngster Harry Brockbank is being pursued by three clubs this summer. Sunderland are in the hunt for Brockbank, according to The Sun on Sunday (June 9th, page 61).

ꦜBrockbank is highly rated by Bolton but the cash-strapped club are battling to hold onto their best players this summer. Brockbank is one of many who could leave.

♎Sunderland are hot on the young defender’s trail. But they are third in this race at the moment. Brentford and Ipswich Town lead the chase.

🌌Brentford could offer Brockbank the chance to step back into the Championship. Meanwhile, Ipswich will be rivalling Sunderland for promotion in League One next season.

𝓡Brockbank made his first-team breakthrough last season. After playing twice on loan at National League side Salford City, the 20-year-old returned to Bolton.

📖He made his debut in mid-April and went on to play three times for the Trotters. Operating at right-back, he demonstrated his potential in the Championship, although all three of his outings ended in defeat.

ꦿSunderland defender Adam Matthews is set to leave on a free transfer this summer. Donald Love has had his injury concerns and Luke O’Nien has operated in that position, despite preferring a central midfield role.

🧸Brockbank could provide the Black Cats with a long-term right-back solution. But Sunderland will need to fend off interest from Brentford and Ipswich.
