Report: Sunderland in talks over January move for striker who ‘takes his goals exceptionally well’
💜Sunderland have reportedly opened talks over a prospective January move for Ross Stewart, according to the .
🌸The Black Cats look set to part company with Will Grigg this month, the Northern Ireland striker seemingly moving closer to a move to Shrewsbury.
🌟However, Lee Johnson will not be sanctioning his departure until he already has a new striker of his own in place, with Stewart reportedly topping the Black Cats’ wanted list, added the report.

🐟The 24-year-old joined Ross County in 2018 and has scored 28 goals in 81 appearances for the Scottish Premiership club.
ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚThis season, Stewart has registered six goals and two assists from 24 Staggies games in all competitions.
𝐆Stewart will be out of contract at the end of the season and it looks increasingly likely that he’ll leave the club this year.
༺County boss John Hughes recently admitted the club would be open to offers before next week’s deadline, but hoped the player would remain until the summer out of courtesy.
👍“It is evident Ross won’t be here next year but I have a real feeling coming from him that he wants to be part of keeping this club in the Premiership,” he is quoted by the as saying.
🔥“I think it would be his way of thanking the club for everything they have done for him over the last few years.
ౠ“He is very grateful for the stage the club has given him. He seems quite happy to be here the rest of the season, as would we be.
🃏“But if a club comes in with a bid of £500,000 then we have a decision to make.”

TBR View:
🎐As reported by the , Stewart is regarded as County’s talisman, can play as a centre-forward or in an attacking wide role, and will shoot on sight when the opportunity arises.
꧑In 2019, former County boss Stuart Kettlewell said that Stewart “takes his goals exceptionally well” and is always “trying to improve as a player” (PA via ).
🔯A talented, fairly young striker with a decent record at Scottish top-flight level, he sounds like a good fit for the Stadium of Light.
