Southampton transfer: Saints reportedly rival Championship duo for Swansea star
Southampton are in the race alongside Fulham and Bournemouth to sign Swansea City captain Matt Grimes,
꧅The 25-year-old helped the Swans reach the Championship play-off final last season. Steve Cooper’s men were beaten by Brentford 2-0 at Wembley.
ღGrimes operates in central midfield and scored five goals during 51 appearances for the Championship outfit.
🍰The versatile performer has featured 157 times for the Swans in total. He can play in the conventional central midfield role, as an anchor in front of the back four, or as a number 10.

❀Swansea have reached the play-offs during back-to-back campaigns. Interestingly they have succumbed to Brentford both times in their quest to reach the Premier League.
🎶With his current club failing once again to reach the top-flight, some cuts might need to be made at the second-tier outfit. As a result, Grimes could be sold.
𒁏The player is entering the final year of his contract and they could be under pressure to cash in on him this summer.
ꦍClearly, Southampton will be in pole position for his signature. The Saints could offer Premier League football, with the other two clubs operating in the Championship.
Grimes interest: He could be ideal for Southampton
🗹Signing the midfielder could be a useful addition to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s ranks as he aims to improve during 2021/22.
ꦛThe Saints were disappointing on the whole during last season and some new players will be needed on the south coast this summer.

🌟Fulham and Bournemouth will both have designs of winning promotion. If Grimes is to leave, however, it would make sense for him to seek top-flight football.
꧟The Swansea man is comfortable in possession, has a superb passing radar and at 25, he should only get better.
🌟Last season he outscored Nathan Redmond and Theo Walcott and Grimes could be shrewd addition for the Saints.
