Report shares loan fee Arsenal agreed with West Brom for Ainsley Maitland-Niles
West Brom paid just £280,000 to take Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from Arsenal in the final hours of the January transfer window, .
Sam Allardyce’s men have given themselves an outside chance of pulling off a miraculous escape in the battle to stay in the Premier League.
They have won their last two games. And should they make it three on the bounce on Thursday, they will be six points adrift with six fixtures remaining.
Should they manage to stay up, the club’s work in the winter window will be reflected upon as pivotal. As The Telegraph notes, both Mbaye Diagne and Okay Yokuslu have been extremely impressive since turning up at the Hawthorns.
But one of their most shrewd moves may have actually come from their deal to sign Maitland-Niles from the Gunners.
, West Brom ended up paying just £280,000 as a loan fee for the 23-year-old.
Maitland-Niles has now made nine appearances since joining. But three of their five league wins have come since his debut in February.
Like several of his teammates, he has been outstanding in the last two fixtures. And should they stay up, it should come as absolutely no surprise if West Brom look at trying to keep him beyond the summer – whether that be on loan or on a permanent basis.
And should they stay up, then getting Maitland-Niles for a fee of just £280,000 could be looked back upon as a masterstroke.
