Report: Nuno believes Gil will add ‘extra dimension’ to Tottenham

Nuno Espirito Santo believes Bryan Gil will add an extra dimension to Tottenham Hotspur,

What’s the story?

Spurs confirmed the arrival of the youngster from Sevilla in a deal worth €25m plus Erik Lamela.

He signed a five-year deal with the club and will join up after Spain’s involvement at the Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, Lamela has ended his eight-year association with the Lilywhites. The Argentine has been with the club since moving from AS Roma in August 2013.

It has being claimed that Spurs’ Portuguese coach sought a move for the 20-year-old due to his attacking threat.

Gil would add more than just an extra dimension

Last season proved to be an incredibly underwhelming campaign for Tottenham. Things threatened to go stale for the Londoners, however, the addition of the Spaniard has changed that.

Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane carried the vast majority of the club’s attacking threat last season.

So, when you add a player as good as Gil, it is fair to say he will do much more than add an extra dimension.

The Spain international will add an extra threat in the final third in terms of goals and assists.

Given the fact he can play across both midfield and attack, that is increased versatility for the first-team squad.

However, the most important thing the youngster will add is competition among the starting places.

Tottenham’s starting XI got fairly stale last season with virtually the same names turning out and failing week in, week out.

Gil would add far more than an extra dimension to the Tottenham team.
