Report: AC Milan want to beat Newcastle to Sven Botman signing

AC Milan want to sign reported Newcastle United target, Sven Botman, who is said to be available from Lille for around £40m.

We reported this week how Newcastle had identified Botman as a priority signing. suggested that Botman could be allowed to leave Lille for £40m, with newly cash-rich Newcastle expressing their interest.

However, reports from Italy are now suggesting that AC Milan want Botman as well. run the claim. They suggest that the Serie A giants could look for a loan move for Botman in January, with a view to making that permanent in the summer.

Botman is among a number of names mentioned in regards to Milan. reports how Chelsea pair Malang Sarr and Andreas Christensen are among the options being considered. Meanwhile, Newcastle are desperately seeking realistic additions in January. Eddie Howe finally got the Magpies their first win last weekend. However, there’s an acceptance that more is needed if they are to survive.

The Dutch star, 25, has been courted by English clubs before. Indeed, last January, Liverpool were considering Botman to ease their defensive crisis.

Yes, £40m is a decent chunk of change. However, there is plenty of upside to the Toon landing Botman and he has his very best years ahead of him as well. Further, he’s also experienced success with Lille in France, so would arrive very much knowing what it takes to win.

January feels like a massive month for Newcastle and their new board. In Sven Botman, they’d certainly be giving the Toon Army a fine player to invest in.
