‘Quicker than greased lightning’… Tim Sherwood says £35m Tottenham player is scarily fast

Sherwood spoke about Spurs’ defensive style and the man’s speed.
“He promised he would do this, he’s doing it his way and the fans love it and the players must love playing for him, Even the defenders who are left on their own. The two centre-backs, Van de Ven is quicker than greased lightning, Romero is prepared to go high and kick people. It’s fantastic, I love watching them, and long may it continue,” Sherwood said.

Van de Ven is one of the fastest players in the Premier League, and his pace plays a huge role in how Spurs set up.
As we all know, Ange Postecoglou plays a ridiculously high line, and that can only work when he has centre-backs who are able to get back quickly and make those lung-busting recovery runs with ease.
There may not be a centre-back in world football who is more well-equipped to do just that.
Van de Ven may well be the best signing any Premier League team made this summer. He’s perfect for this Tottenham side, and at the age of just 22, he has loads of room to still grow and improve.
