Queens Park Rangers 2012/13 Season Preview

We take a look at Queens Park Rangers’ prospects leading up to the new Premier League season.

Manager: Mark Hughes

Stadium: Loftus Road – 18,360

Nickname:  The R’s

2011/12 League Position: 17th

Summer Signings

Samba Diakite – Nancy – £3.5m

Ji-Sung Park – Manchester United – £2m

Junior Hoilett – Blackburn – Undisclosed

Robert Green – West Ham – Free

Andy Johnson – Fulham – Free

Ryan Nelsen – Tottenham – Free

Fabio – Manchester United – Loan

Key Players

Adel Taarabt – Taarabt’s vision and tricks will be a big weapon in his free role behind the striker this season. The Moroccan certainly believes his own hype, but 2011-12 was a year 𒁏to forg🔜et for QPR’s main attacking threat. He’s a player with a lot to offer in a team relatively short of creativity.

Alejandro Faurlin – Fan𓆉’s favourite Faurlin is like a new signing after missing last season 🧔through injury.

Clint Hill – The defender is an important player for QPR. Having won the Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the year award last season, big thi🍷ngs are expected from him in defence.

Likely Line-Up

Green, Onuoha, Ferdinand, Hill, Fabio, Diakite, Faurlin, Park, Taarabt, Hoilett, Cisse

Team Tactics

  • QPR play with two holding midfielders – Diakite is the holding man, while Faurlin starts the attacks.
  • Taarabt, Hoilett and Park’s mix of pace and skill will create loads of chances.
  • Speedy striker Cisse should start upfront ahead of Zamora and Johnson.

Opening Fixtures

August 18th Swansea (H), 25th Norwich (A), September 1st Man City (A), 15th Chelsea (H), 23rd Tottenham (A), October 1st West Ham (H)

Verdict

Mark Hughes has b🏅een a busy man this summer, bringing in a number of quality, experienced players. He’ll be hoping this, plus a year’s Premiership experience, should be enough to avoid a relegation scrap again this season.

We should see an improvement this time round, but the squad will need a few games to settle. 12th
