Pundit suggests 26-year-old Arsenal star was fortunate to not be sent off against Liverpool on Sunday

Don Hutchison has suggested that one Arsenal player was potentially fortunate to avoid being sent off against Liverpool on Sunday.

Arsenalꦓ collected a massive win in the Premier League title race. Mikel Arteta’s men were, by far, the better team at the Emirates. Meanwhile, everything seemed to go wrong 𝕴for Liverpool.

Ibrahima Konate was shown two yellow cards after being involved in two clashes with Kai Havertz. While he cou꧟ld have few complaints about the second yellow, it did appear that he was unlucky to be boo൲ked initially after engaging in a tussle with the Arsenal forward.

Don Hutchison thinks Gabriel Magalhaes was fortunate to not be sent off for Arsenal

And he may feel the decisions were even more unfair considering that Gabriel Magalhaes avoided punishment after a clash with Darwin Nu🃏nez.

Replays appeared to show that Nunez should have been awarded the free-kick. And posting on , Don Hutchiso𒆙n seemed to suggest that the Brazilian was fortunate to not follow Konate down the tunnel…

Red card unlikely to have changed much, but may have given Liverpool a much-needed boost

Jurgen Klopp had few complaints with the result. But obviously, Gabriel getting sent off at 2-1 would have c𝓡hanged the comple🥀xion of the game. And it would have given Liverpool a big boost.

Liverpool’s equaliser a❀t the end of the first-half came somewhat out of nowhere. It was, of course, Gabriel who put the ball into his own net just before the break.

So had the defender been dismissed, Liverpool may have gone into stoppage-time with a bit of 🌼a boost that they could repeat the trick and find another equaliser.

Certainly, it is hard to imagine Konate would hav𒁃e received a second yellow card had his two fouls been the other way around. As much as referees will insist that they take appropr🌟iate action for each and every single foul, they do appear to show a bit more leniency when it comes to a player already on a yellow card.

That may have been what ultimately saved Gabriel, as his clash with Nunez looked more l🌜ike than a foul than the one involving Konate and Havertz.
